The Symphony Multiuse Complex in Kuwait - Salmiyah district - is placed between two very important streets, the Arabian Gulf Street and Salem Al Mubarak street.
The main functions of the complex are split into two separate buildings: a hotel - facing the sea, and an office building facing the town. These two structures are placed on a three-story podium housing a shopping mall.
The complex is characterized by the tension created between the two buildings one ascending the other descending, the contrast of their colors – beige sand and red, and the dynamic of their concave slender shapes. The hotel starts with fifteen floors and ends with twenty floors on a spiral-ascending tower; while the office building structure is declining from twelve to ten stores.
The centerpiece of the complex is the hotel building designed on a single loaded corridor offering a panoramic view of the Arabian Gulf to all rooms. It includes 106 stylish guest rooms and 63 suites. Missoni operates the hotel and the internal design is due to the Italian Architect Matteo Thun in collaboration with Rosita Missoni. Various facilities such as a big spa with health club, a large outdoor swimming pool overlooking the sea, a business center, conference rooms and a large ballroom complete the guests’ functions.
The shopping mall, placed on the first three floors, is designed around two atriums. One of the atriums is located between the hotel and the office building and covered with a generous skylight. The second one is located under the terrace of the swimming pool.
The first basement contains the hotel services while the second one is for parking use.
